Josh's Surprise

Josh had to go to Florida for a home health conference for a whole week. When he got back, the boys had only one day left of off track. He called me from Florida and said he had a surprise planned for the boys the day he got back. He said they needed to be in swimsuits and ready to go at 12:00. That morning, we woke up to a whole lot of snow in the valley. Josh still insisted that we get ready. We drove up the canyon to Miday and stopped at the Homestead Resort. Josh had made us a reservation at the Midway Crater. It is this huge covered crater filled with really hot natural spring water. You can pay to swim, snorkel and even scuba dive in it. It was so fun. Boo, Max, Kaige and Josh just outside the Crater's entrance! The view of the top of the crater. It is covered with wire mesh so that people won't throw things in it. Everyonce in a while you could feel a cold breeze. but the 96 degree water made up for it. After we were done swimming, we were able to walk up to the top and look down into it. It was fun to see other people swimmng.
The walls of the crater. It was so steamy. It was so cold outside the cave and the water was so hot, that it was steaming! The boys thought that was awesome.
The enterance to the water! The boys loved that it was in a cave!
Josh is supervising the snorkeling! I love his floataion device. They make everyone wear one since the water is so deep and there is no "shallow" part!
Kaige getting out to put on some fins! The love to snorkel.
Max loved that it was so warm and steamy!
The boys trying to get me to swim over and touch the wall of the crater. It was a little creepy. I was worried it was slimy because is looked like it was hangning moss, but it was all hard, rock and dry!
Boo loved to just float in the water. It was so warm. Something in the water was so good for his Eczema. It cleared up for a few days after his soak.

After Swimming, we went to the resort's restuarant -Fanny's Grill. When we walked in, the boys were quite impressed. Kaige said, " Wow.. This place is sure Fancy!" I wish I would have taken the camera, because it really wasn't fancy! It reminded me of my house growing up in the 80's. I think what made it so fancy for the boys, was the linen table cloth and glass cups! They were so hungry, they ate everything on their plates and dessert too! On the way out of the restuarant, kaige noticed the sign and asked, "Isn't a Fanny a Butt?" . Josh replied, "yep, you just ate at the butt's grill!" The boys thought that was the best thing ever! It is kaige's new favorite place to eat!

Thanks Joshy for planning such a fun Surprise.
