Since we were in San Diego, we had to go to the zoo. Kaige is our animal lover and he has been obsessed with Rhinos, Pandas and Hippos forever. This zoo was great! It had so many more animals and they were happy and moving about. We walked and walked. This zoo was huge. We had a lot of fun.
He always wanted to ride a hippo.
Kaige and Josh could have watched the Pandas for hours. They sure are cute little bears. Kaige had just finished a report on Pandas for school. It was fun to have him tell us all about bamboo and pandas.
The boys felt bad for this ugly hyenna. It was all alone.
The elephants were awesome. There were so many and they were out playing - not like our zoo where they look almost dead.
Boo bought these "kid" binoculars from the gift shop. He used them the whole time.
I finally got the camera away from Josh.
Rhinos are big lazy beasts.
The zoo is so big and hilly that it has moving side walks throughout it. The boys loved them. Every time we saw one, we had to take it, even if it wasn't in the direction we were going.
Playing in the ice in the Arctic Zone. The boys weren't real impressed with this exhibit. It was not nearly as neat at Sea World's Polar zone.
Josh had to carry Boo for a while after one of his many "mishaps". He had just fallen into a prickly bush and then when he stood up, he lost his balance and rolled a bit down a hill.
Of all the stuff the boys could buy, they became obsessed with these smashed pennies. We have some from every place we visited on this trip. Josh is a sucker and kept handing out quarters and pennies to make these. It was a challenge to find a new machine with prints we didn't have. Josh even bought them collection books to keep them in. I guess it is a rather cheap way to remember the trip. I am sure we will continue to fill up the books in the future.
The boys like the "manual" machines that you had to crank yourself rather than the "automatic" ones.
